Mammology is not a separate clinical specialty but a branch of the specialty Obstetrics and Gynecology. The mammary gland as an organ is subject to study and treatment by the physicians obstetrician-gynecologists. The mammary gland structure and function are closely related to the function of other endocrine glands. This determines the relation of mammary gland pathology with that of woman genitals. Only a specialist with detail knowledge of the structure, function and lesions of the reproductive system could diagnose and treat adequate the mammary gland lesions.
